Giclée Prints

Giclée is a French term meaning “spray of ink”. An Iris ink jet print on watercolor paper or canvas is known as a Giclée. Giclée prints render deep saturated colors that have a beautiful quality that retain minute details and subtle tones.

To create a Giclée print, first a high resolution scan of the original art work captures the details and the subtle gradations of tone and color. The technical staff then match the colors of the scanned image with that of the original work. Next, using the highest quality archival paper, the printers reproduce the fine strokes, color, and detail captured in the original piece of art.

The print is then matted and framed using the Alphamat Artcare system. Using this system, acid and acid gases are trapped before they can harm the artwork. This system also actively protects artwork against pollutants. It is the new conservation choice of museums and archives as the print is guaranteed to last 250-300 years.
